As a supporter can there be anything less depressing than the news that your club has appointed Steve Bruce as manager?

Allardyce at least tends to bring some level of performance to a club.

Geordie fans are pretty passionate although a bit deluded about their club. I feel sorry for them and wonder what curse they have on the club to deserve Mike Ashley as owner?

Re: Steve Bruce confirmed as barcodes manager
Syd, you don't know what the contract terms are for the deal between Ashley and Bruce. What is known about the Ashley contracts is that they do not get approval from the LMA. When Pardew took the Newcastle job the LMA told him not to sign the contract until certain clauses were altered. Ashley refused and Pardew nevertheless signed on.

If Bruce leaves early he will receive little or no compensation is my guess.

Expect Bruce is looking through the holiday brochurs already for his christmas getaway........

People laugh at these appoitments, but Stevie will be laughing all the way to the bank when he gets the inevatable sack before christmas and pockets a few million in compensation, then sits back in some sunny resort and waits for the next desperate club to offer him the managers job, and so begins the cycle all over again.

It's hard to believe there are no better up and coming managers in the lower divisions that would be a better fit than Bruce.

Ashley won't spend the necessary, as always will try to do it on the cheap, he even makes the two Davids look like big spenders.

Seems that the Saudi link has disappeared
Were saying he tried to buy Liverpool at one point but was sent away as a chancer.
Newcastle fans are up and down at the best of times but Samaritans must be working overtime up there at the moment

Smashed 4-0 by Wolves just to get off to a good start

Re: Steve Bruce confirmed as barcodes manager
Weren’t they supposed to have been bought out by a Saudi outfit? Guess not? Now they’ve got Bruce, an ex Sunderland manager. If that isn’t coming back down to earth with a bang I don’t know what is.

Re: Steve Bruce confirmed as barcodes manager
I've got no problem with him rubbing it into us, we dished it out to him and his team twice when we stopped them winning the league, why the fuck shouldn't he give it back to us? It's all part and parcel, you dish it out, be prepared to take it back.

It's on old school shit appointment, but he'll get them mid table.

Re: Steve Bruce confirmed as barcodes manager
If you take Benetiz out the equation then this is just a typical managerial appointment for Newcastle, so shouldn't be that shocked really.

Why worry about Steve Bruce?
Its all been downhill for him since Casualty ditched the Megan character.

Serious Drinking 2:47 Wed Jul 17
Re: Steve Bruce confirmed as barcodes manager
He probably also doesn't like us because of how much we rubbed it in. All the "Steve Bruce, you lost the league to West Ham" and "Steve Bruce is an ugly cunt" chants.

I can really see them going down again this year, it's almost as if Ashley hates their fans and actively seeks to do whatever would most piss them off.

Re: Steve Bruce confirmed as barcodes manager
Was Bruce also Birmingham manager when we went down at St Andrews in 2003? We drew 2-2 but in the end even a win wouldn't have been enough.

How many times do you have to exact revenge?

SDKFZ 222 2:41 Wed Jul 17
Re: Steve Bruce confirmed as barcodes manager
I’ll never forget Bruce’s fist thumping and over the top celebrations every time Sunderland scored a goal against us during our 0-3 home loss after we’d been relegated by Wigan.

He later explained it as ‘revenge’ after we had beaten Man Utd 1-0 in April 1992 to deny them the title.
